Business Automation Conversation with my 10-year Old Son

I immediately took a break from what I was doing and asked why he had asked the question (a typical case of responding to a question with another question) 🤦

He responded, "I'm asking because I’m curious, I really want to know”

So I went ahead to explain and showed him how he could track every money that he makes (selling a physical product in school) automatically using technology tools instead of writing them in a notepad.

I also explained to him that not all manual tasks can and should be automated; some can be outsourced.

He had asked a lot of follow up questions in between our conversation because he was truly curious and found my responses really exciting.

In the end, he finally understood why keeping records of his product sales was a manual task that needed to be automated because we found out from the analytics that his class teacher was his best selling customer and we gave him a thank you gift on his next purchase, which he really appreciated.

Now, if my 5 year old had asked the same question, I would have responded to him differently because their interests and realities are different.

This also applies to businesses; every business has different manual tasks that overwhelm them daily and can be automated.

Here's what I want you to do as a business owner after reading this post.
